Gonnesa is located in southwestern Sardinia, between Carbonia and Iglesias, at the foot of the Iglesiente mountains.<\/strong> The town is very close to the sea and opens onto the broad plain leading to Marina di Gonnesa, where the beaches of Fontanamare, Plag\u2019e Mesu, Sa Punt\u2019e s\u2019Arena and Porto Paglia<\/strong> follow one another along the coast.
\nThe proximity between the town and the coast is one of Gonnesa\u2019s defining features. From its beaches, looking north, you can see the outline of the high cliffs of Iglesiente and the Masua area.
